What is Media Blasting?

Vandalism and graffiti can be very upsetting and overwhelming. Incidents of vandalism and graffiti can range from relatively minor pranks to malicious destruction of property. Often simple acts of vandalism, like breaking a window, can potentially lead to significant water and mold damage if not addressed in a timely manner. Media blasting is normally utilized in cases of soot, mold, or paint removal. It is done by forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material to smooth the surface. A containment area can be built to make the cleanup process easier to limit the product from spreading to unwanted areas. The containment is easily moved to reach different parts of the affected location. At SERVPRO of Ottumwa/Grinnell, we have the capability to help with this property damage. Additionally, we help do a board-up which is done after a storm, fire or vandalism incident where the building is exposed. It is meant to prevent further damage from happening to the facility.
